We want to help the people of Kijumong build and equip a chapel. Until today, the Catholic population of this small town has built the foundations and walls of the chapel. The work continues. As much as they can, the parishioners help with the construction. They provide sand, water and make hollow blocks. The remaining construction works are beyond their financial reach.
Kijumong Village is located in the Northeast of Ghana. Its inhabitants deal with agriculture on a daily basis. Christianity in this part of the country is young, many people are baptized, maintaining traditional beliefs. The number of Catholics living in the village and attending the Holy Masses is about 200 people. Currently, the Holy Mass and liturgical services are held under the mango tree, but in the rainy season it is a big obstacle. In the past, during heavy rains, services were held in the primary school, however, strong winds and storms destroyed the school building. The Salesians have been working here since 2015. To help the residents, they installed a water pump and work is underway on the construction of the school. They turned to us with a request for the support of the residents in their efforts to complete the chapel. The joint construction of the chapel integrates the residents. The joint work will also be a meeting place for local people.
